ABSTRACT

This article proposes the best design for a hybrid system that incorporates wind turbines, solar panels, and fuel cells (FC) to satisfy the load requirement. The design's goal is to reduce the system's energy production costs considering the load supply's reliability. System costs include initial investment costs, operation and maintenance, replacement and replacement costs, and load loss costs. The optimal capacity of the hybrid system's equipment has been calculated with the help of the Coronavirus Optimization Algorithm (COVIDOA). The results obtained from the optimization have been compared and analyzed with those obtained from the Differential Evolution (DE) algorithm. The results have shown that the COVIDOA optimization method, like the DE optimization method, has obtained favourable results. In the COVIDOA method, the system's production costs have increased slightly, but the reliability of the load supply has been improved. Therefore, in the suggested approach, in addition to considering the economic aspect of the design, much attention has been paid to the technical aspect of the design, in other words, the reliability level of the system. © 2023 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a serious impact on the mental health of the population, which also has been affected by various barriers to access to psychological care. The aim of the current study is to compare the mental health status of the Spanish population between the onset of confinement (N = 3480) to 12 months later (N = 550), and to describe the use of psychological care services and the main barriers to access. Study participants completed an online survey. Forty percent of the sample reported experiencing a mental health problem since the pandemic's onset, of which 23.4% reported having received some kind of care. The majority reported not seeking care because they could handle the problems on their own, their problems got better on their own, or they could not afford treatment. The psychological effects of the pandemic have been increasing since its onset, so attention to mental health problems should be a priority.

ABSTRACT

In times of coronavirus, death and its rituals have undergone a radical change in the times of physical absences, lack of hugs and condolences due to the fear of catching it and infecting others. The scenario of the pandemic has given truce to social reference and symbolic greatness to celebrate and pay tribute to death. The traditions, customs and rites that were transmitted from generation to generation were modified, before this, we ask ourselves how have older people lived and what meanings do they give to the changes in the rites of farewell to confinement? From the participant observation and the use of netnography, it was possible to recover through the narration of the elderly people of their experiences about death and the farewell rituals

ABSTRACT

Introduction: The COVID-19 crisis will have an undeniable impact on the population´s emotional health. The present study aims to shed light to the psychosocial impact on the Spanish health centres workers during the first and second wave of COVID-19 and possible preventive measures to minimize it. Materials and Methods: Literature review (Pubmed, SCOPUS and Cochrane Library Plus);statistical analysis of the 2019 National Labour Force Survey;41 semi-structured interviews. Results: The review shows that the group most at risk is made of women, nurses or low qualified professionals, aged between 20-30 years, work experience <5 years and without previous crisis training. Working in first line impact on mental health leads to a higher prevalence of anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder. There are several preventive interventions to be implemented, including those based on peer support and resilience training. The semi-structured interviews confirmed consequences compatible with bibliographic findings and allowed to deepen into the knowledge of the sector´s preventive system. Conclusions: Working in health centres during the pandemic gives rise to psychosocial risks that require a specialized approach. Exposure to these risks at the workplace can lead to negative effects on people's physical and mental health so that preventive measures are required. Mental health surveillance is key for an early detection and addressing the damage caused by the pandemic. The commitment of managers, middle managers and prevention service´s heads to psychosocial health is essential for the success of preventive actions.

ABSTRACT

In the last months, there has been an increasing interest in developing reliable, cost-effective, immediate and easy to use machine learning based tools that can help health care operators, institutions, companies, etc. to optimize their screening campaigns. In this line, several initiatives emerged aimed at the automatic detection of COVID-19 from speech, breathing and coughs, with inconclusive preliminary results. The ComParE 2021 COVID-19 Cough Sub-challenge provides researchers from all over the world a suitable test-bed for the evaluation and comparison of their work. In this paper, we present the INESC-ID contribution to the ComParE 2021 COVID-19 Cough Sub-challenge. We leverage transfer learning to develop a set of three expert classifiers based on deep cough representation extractors. A calibrated decision-level fusion system provides the final classification of coughs recordings as either COVID-19 positive or negative. Results show unweighted average recalls of 72.3% and 69.3% in the development and test sets, respectively. Overall, the experimental assessment shows the potential of this approach although much more research on extended respiratory sounds datasets is needed. Copyright © 2021 ISCA.

ABSTRACT

Aim: Assess the perception of pharmacy users about the impact of COVID-19 on their health at the end of confinement and compare the results with those obtained at the beginning. Material and methods: Randomized cross-sectional observational study, in pharmacies in Pontevedra and Ourense, from 10 to 25 June 2020. Subjects: 18 years of age who come on demand for medicines and/or protective material. Procedure: the user completed an anonymous questionnaire, depositing it in a daily disinfected tray.
